The cherry bowl donated was obtained from a down tree in a yard near Utica, Indiana. This cherry, still green/unseasoned, was then turned on my lathe into a rough shape and coated with a wax to slow the drying process. During the 12-14 month drying process, the wood warps and changes shape. In 2013, the rough shape was placed back on my lathe, turned to its current shape, walnut oil applied and lastly, the bowl was waxed. In the last year, the bowl has developed a darker but deeper patina. That process will continue over time. Well-aged cherry is a prized commodity.

Enjoy!
